Maria Sammur opened her independent, retail haberdashery shop in August 2016 in South East London's increasingly popular and trendy Lordship Lane.
Maria is an artist, adult education tutor, OFSTED trained peer inspector, freelance magazine illustrator, writer and designer.
She has won numerous craft competitions as well as having been the Chair of the Qrazy Quilters and Vice-Chair of the Bedouin Piecemakers quilting group in Saudi Arabia, spanning her work across continents.
Her love of colour, vibrancy and unique prints are represented in her distinguished crafting style and shop décor. It's 'Really Maria!' And how did it all start?
A curious and independent child, Maria learned how to crochet and knit from her grandmother at the age of 5 and from there, her passion and confidence grew. She learned many other crafts, including silk painting, pottery, saltdough, jewelry/beading, Syrian fabric painting and cake decorating to name a few.
As Maria's love for crafts grew, so did her desire for progression and creativity beyond her craft. Her biggest challenge to date was to open Really Maria, so she could share her passion for crafts with other creative individuals. Really? Yes 'Really Maria!'
